I believe that your purpose-driven business is building the world we all want to live in.

You’ve never been one to confuse compliance with complacency. You played by rules you don’t agree with while rewriting your own.

You’re incapable of doing anything half-assed, which confuses people for whom excellence is an exception and not the rule. You’ve come to realize that the problem isn’t that you care too much—but that you spent too much time and energy caring about the wrong things. You’re done with that.

You’ve come to accept that the only thing you can control is yourself and how you respond to things. You can’t project-manage your way out of dysfunction, but you can manage your time, energy, and resources—and how you invest them.

You plotted a path to entrepreneurship with intention. If you’re like me, you didn’t know what it would look like—but you knew how you wanted it to feel.

You want to feel inspired by the impact your work could make.

You want to feel passionate about the mission at hand.

You want to feel improved by each opportunity to cultivate your expertise.

You want to feel satisfied that you’ve achieved a worthwhile goal.

You want to feel respect for—and respected by—the clients you serve.

When you know, you no.

I remember what it was like to work with people who didn’t share my passion for a project.
They just didn’t careas much as I did.
They didn’t appreciate my curiosity, perfectionism, or enthusiasm.

Conversely, I, too, struggled working on projects that I didn’t care about. My work ethic remained the same but the energy required to maintain quality output was a fast pass to burn out.

Now, the only thing burning is my desire to help people help themselvesto help the collective.

Countless business owners have helped me create positive, healthy outcomes in my life. When we know better, we do better.

That is why I became a copywriter, so that I could help business owners like you transform more lives—thereby helping to empower more people.

We each have a responsibility to ourselves and to each other to do and be our best.

Building a business is one of the hardest things you’ll ever do.

You deserve a creative partner who believes in your vision, empathizes with your ideal client, and helps you make thoughtful decisions every step of the way.

It’s like sitting down with a friend who really wants you to succeed.

  • (I’ve been a member of the Lo Rox studio since 2019)

  • (I’ve been working Dave Ramsey’s 7 Baby Steps for years and paid off my mortgage in 2022)

Always on the “smaller” brands (like Lincoln, Mercury, Quick Lane Tire & Auto Center, Cadillac, Shop Click Drive, Chevrolet Accessories, Buick Accessories, GMC Accessories, and Cadillac Accessories) that had “Saks taste on a Walmart budget.” Meaning, I got really good at optimization (i.e. learning best practices from bigger brands and budgets) and collaboration (i.e. “free” placements with other business units).

Mostly retail vs. brand campaigns. My nervous system is still recovering.

Employers

Young & Rubicam (Y&R) Detroit, which became Team Detroit (11 years)

Aquent (7 months as a GM contractor)

My philosophy: Shine on, friend.

As author Anne Lamott reminds us, “Lighthouses don’t go running around all over an island looking for boats to save; they just stand there shining.”

The best way to attract right-fit clients is to stay true to yourself.
